Richmond nurses celebrate compassion & caring

From birth to life-end, nurses accompany Richmond residents through every stage of their life-long health care journey.

Nurses encounter patients/clients/residents during times when they are most vulnerable, and we meet them right where they are – in the hospital, in the ED, at a clinic, at their home or school.  Every day, nurses in Richmond provide compassionate and competent care, and are truly making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.

Nurses are constantly learning and optimizing their role in the healthcare system.  We adapt our practice to the latest evidence and learning to become more efficient with emerging technology. We continually strive to do better with the intent of providing the best care possible.

I know this because I — like all of you — am a nurse, and during National Nurses Week, from May 8 to 14, I’d like to recognize all Richmond nurses for their valuable contribution to Vancouver Coastal Health service delivery.

We will be delivering cookies this week, May 9 to 11, to all Richmond sites as small token of our appreciation. Also, don’t forget to nominate a nurse for a chance to win one of three $100 spa gift certificates. You’ll find more information about this below.

Nominate a nurse…for a chance to win! 

We encourage anyone and everyone to recognize a Richmond nurse —  patients, families, health care providers, and volunteers  — by nominating them ($10 to the Richmond Hospital Foundation per nurse nomination) to win one of three $100 spa gift cards.

The nominator will also be entered in a draw to win one of three $25 Starbucks gift cards.  Nurses will receive who nominated them and why.  What a great way to encourage and recognize nurses!

Nominations can be made from May 1 to 14, with the prize draw happening on May 16. Nominations can be made online. In the comment section include the nurse’s name, their department/unit and the reason for the nomination.
