I recently received the following email. It speaks to the exemplary service provided by Heatherbrae Construction as they assist our patients to UBC Hospital during construction of the new Centre for Brain Health, by the staff in Urgent Care (especially on a day when 2 RNs were off sick) and our organization’s commitment to People First.
Dear Diane,
Today, July 31st, 2012, my father was admitted to your unit with hypoglycaemia and infection of unknown origin.
From the moment I parked outside Urgent Care, my father and we as family received excellent care. The flag person helped us park the car, the unit clerk helped calm me down and get a wheelchair for my dad.
The nursing staff were so compassionate and yet professional as they had my dad under observation in no time at all.
The medical staff were great, from the ER Dr to the Internist, and also the Resident and MSI.
In this day and age where so many people bemoan our health care, I say to you today , we needed you and you were there for all of us, beyond 100%.
Our situation was complicated by the fact that my parents (thought they had) but had no health care coverage. At no time were we hassled to pay money; indeed, it was only towards discharge that the subject of payment came up.
I am a health care provider myself; I am an RN RM and work at BCWH I am very proud to be part of a great medical service. I saw how it worked well, I saw great team work between the nursing and medical staff and the ancillary staff.
From the bottom of my heart I say a huge thank you, you guys were the best, my father is home with me tonight, thanks to your excellence of care.
