As part of our privacy, safety and security upgrades to the Health Centre at VGH and Detwiller Pavilion at UBCH, new after-hours access procedures are taking effect in September.
New card readers are being installed at entries to both facilities as follows:
- VGH Health Centre – Effective September 10, entries will be locked daily from 21:45 to 08:00 hrs
- UBCH Detwiller – Effective September 24, entries will be locked daily from 22:00 to 06:00 hrs
If you require after-hours access to these facilities on a regular basis in order to perform your job — or, if you need professional access on a sporadic but urgent basis — please contact your supervisor as soon as possible to request reprogramming of your access card.
In addition to the new card readers, both facilities will be equipped with exterior cameras and intercoms at the main entrances, security cameras throughout the units, and exterior lighting at the front and back of the Health Centre. The new security systems will allow each unit to view and speak with people at the main entrances when doors are locked, providing an added layer of security.
