VCH operates a long-term residential treatment program for youth located at The Crossing at Keremeos BC. Keremeos is located between Osoyoos and Princeton the Southern Interior.
Youth who have attended intensive long-term residential treatment are now integrating back intoVancouver. They are living with mental health challenges and addictions and face a lot of stigma and multiple barriers. The youth we work with post treatment are working very hard to overcome these barriers. They are on the road to recovery from addiction and mental health challenges
The Pacific National Exhibition hosts KC’s Kids Ticket Donation Program, a program that supports 100 Registered non-profit charities every year across the Lower Mainland. They offer tickets to The Fair at the PNE, Playland and Fright Night tickets for the children they serve with economic, physical, emotional or cognitive challenges. The Youth Long term Residential treatment program received a generous donation of six tickets to playalnd (worth $190). The youth also did some fundraising to raise enough money for all the youth to attend. On Thursday, August.16th, 2012, the youth attended playland, an even that most of these youth would not have the opportunity to attend otherwise. It was a very fun day!
We owe a big thanks to KC’s ticket donation program staff for welcoming and supporting the youth in our program. This community partnership is allowing youth to experience attractions that they would never have the opportunity to experience.
