On September 25, the first of three — free! — patient simulation sessions scheduled for this fall were held at the CESEI offices with great success.
This workshop consists of three simulation stations designed using the latest simulation technology. Participants managed common clinical situations using the patient simulators; each station had a difference simulator. Participants became familiar with each simulator and its clinical features, and then had an opportunity to participate in a simulated scenario. They gained insights into the principles of Interpofessional teamwork, and participated in debriefing conducted with the use of an Audio-Visual Debriefing System (Learning Space).
“Our participants come from different backgrounds with different experiences in the field of medicine,” says Vladimirka Pereula, project coordinator with the Center of Excellence for Surgical Education and Innovation (CESEI). “That’s why these workshops are intended to be an opportunity to get exposure to simulation education, rather than evaluate participants’ knowledge and skills.”
