Nurses are the heart of our health care system – and often the unsung heroes – providing care, comfort and compassion to thousands of patients in need of hope and healing.
On May 6th, VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation recognized some of our dedicated nurses in a special ceremony held at VGH, during National Nursing Week. In all, 88 nurses from VGH, UBC Hospital, and Vancouver Community were honored at the 2013 Nursing Awards; each receiving a bursary award for their exceptional leadership and nursing practices. The Awards allow our nurses to further their education and stay at the forefront of their specialized fields.
VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation would like to thank our donors – who make these awards possible – for giving the gift of health care education to these well-deserving nurses!
The 2013 Nursing Awards recognizes donors and bursary recipients of:
- The Andrew David Stagg Memorial Fund
- Clara Y. Lim Scholarship Award
- The VGH School of Nursing Alumnae Building Society/Association Bursary
- The Cordula and Günter Paetzold Nursing Education Bursary
- The Joan Russell Nursing Mentorship Award
- The Bonnie Cart Leadership Award
- The Patricia Semeniuk Nursing Bursary
Congratulations to all of this year’s recipients. We’d like to thank them for their hard-work and dedication to patient care every day – not just the seven days of National Nurses Week!
