A shout out to the people who save lives every day
On Monday, July 8, 2013, Anita Hamilton’s “shout out” of thanks to VGH staff, Dr. Yee and Vancouver first responders was printed in The Vancouver Sun. We provide the letter as printed in The Vancouver Sun here below for you to enjoy.
A shout out to the people who save lives every day
Words cannot express my profound gratitude to total strangers who helped save my husband’s life on June 4. The police officer who flipped him over, the paramedics who arrived within minutes, the amazing VGH emergency team who worked tirelessly on my husband, who never gave up, you are all heroes to me.
Thank you to the intensive care unit staff for all your hard work, your endless hours caring for loved ones, putting up with frantic questions, your undeniable patience, I honour all of you.
To Dr. Yee and his remarkable staff, my everlasting gratitude. Your organization should be proud to staff such miraculous people within this hospital. Just knowing how high your standards are, your expectations from your staff give me comfort that this teaching hospital will have well-trained staff in years to come.
How quickly life can change and we need to be very appreciative of the men and women who save lives every day. Please remember to give blood, sign the donor card, and make a donation, if possible, to Vancouver General Hospital. We need to keep one of our best resources in B.C. and allow these talented individuals to assist other families like mine, to save our loved ones.
