Opening our doors to the east side

On Tuesday evening, VCH hosted an open house for Downtown Eastside (DTES) community members, residents, VCH staff and service partners  at the SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts lobby.

The emphasis of the event was to share information about VCH’s recent work with health service partners who provide care in the community and gather ideas (from the residents themselves) on new directions for health services. With over 60 attendees throughout the evening, the open house followed a morning and afternoon of programming for VCH partners and staff.

This event ties to VCH’s efforts to develop and maintain constructive dialogue that will lead to better partnership with service providers and the DTES community. Though their approaches may differ occasionally, all parties share a common goal of improving DTES residents’ quality of life.
