New PSM, Acute Medicine & Palliative Care
It is with pleasure that I announce Gerry Desilets is the successful candidate to fill the role of Patient Services Manager for the Acute Medicine Unit and Palliative Care. Gerry graduated as a Respiratory Therapist in 2003 after completing a Bachelor of Science Degree at Okanagan University College. He is currently enrolled in the Masters of Leadership Program through Royal Roads University. Gerry has worked as Respiratory Therapist, caring for neonates and adults in Vancouver and adults in Arizona. He was Operations Coordinator, Respiratory Therapy in 2012 and most recently, Interim Patient Services Manager for Critical Care – Respiratory Therapy. While in the Interim Patient Services Manager, role Gerry demonstrated innovative and positive leadership through his involvement in several quality initiatives with a tireless focus on recruitment. We look forward to welcoming Gerry to the Medicine team at VGH.
We would also like to thank Kylie Perrins for assuming the role of Interim Patient Services Manager for Acute Medicine and Palliative Care for the past year. Kylie has a passion for working with teams and helping others make a difference. She utilized her 18 years of nursing experience in conjunction with her enthusiasm to support staff to continuously explore new ways of providing exemplary patient care. We are very grateful to Kylie for her commitment and strength leading Acute Medicine and Palliative Care through 2013.
