Our health care staff do have wings – and halos too! (video)

When Rebecca was 15 years old, she was diagnosed with a bone disease so rare that it only affects 3.4 people in every million, leaving her bedridden for over four years. Luckily for Rebecca, she had a care team looking over her, including Dr. David Thompson, Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Endocrinology, who discovered a treatment plan for her rare disease, and dozens of acute care nurses and many others at VGH and GF Strong Rehab Centre. After one of the longest hospital stays ever – 17 months! – miraculously, Rebecca is now back on her feet, attending university, and enjoying life to the fullest.

During VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation’s annual Angel celebration event, Rebecca paid tribute to Dr. Thompson and the other angels who supported her. As part of this campaign, people were invited to make a donation to VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation and dedicate angel ornaments to doctors, nurses, friends or family who have made a difference in their lives.

Since 2001, Angel has raised nearly $2,000,000 through the compassion and generosity of our donors. Donate now and honour your angel.
