Kudos to South Home Hospice Team!
The following note was sent to South Community Health Centre Home Hospice staff this week in gratitude for the outstanding care they gave to a terminally ill patient.
To whom it may concern:
I would like to express my deep appreciation for the skilled compassionate and responsive care my husband, Grant, received in the past several weeks. When Grant was diagnosed with a terminal illness it was his fervent wish that he die at home, in peace. Thanks to the staff of the South CHC’s home hospice program he was able to do this. Grant’s needs became more complex in the last week of his life and I found the care providers as a whole to be helpful, quick to reply to my calls and very knowledgeable.
I would like to specifically mention Janet and Caroline, the two RN’s we met with most often, and Dr. Nori McGowan. These three people provided invaluable suggestions and interventions that enabled my husband to die at home as pain free as possible. His care was seamless. I am quite aware that community care has many challenges, that workloads are increasing, and that staff are under many pressures to deliver quality care. All three of these people made us feel as if we were their only client, that they had all the time they needed to support us, and allowed our wishes to be a priority. For that I am deeply grateful.
Way to go, South Home Hospice Team!
