New VGH ICU website

The VGH ICU team has launched a new website to support patients and families.

The new site will provide answers to common questions that come up in the ICU including visiting hours and bedside etiquette as well as have important information about infection control and health care decisions. It will also provide a way for patients and families to give feedback online about  the services they’ve received.

Why a website?

Jennifer Wong, the critical care nurse who led the project, said they created the site because, “The ICU can be an overwhelming place for loved ones so we wanted an accessible place for people to find information and resources to support them during their stay. We also wanted to provide them with the option to submit feedback about our services online.”

Site is available on mobile devices

The site is available on both desktop computers and mobile devices, smartphones and tablets. Visitors will also have access to the site on computers in the ICU waiting room.

How was it created?

The VGH ICU team built the website in just over six months on a WordPress template provided by Communications and Public Affairs. ICU wrote the content and Communications and Public Affairs helped the ICU team with the strategy, including how the content was organized and presented so that it would be accessible to online audiences.
