What to look for when buying a woman’s bike
Springtime is a great time for a new bike and Vancouver has bike routes all over the city. It is no surprise that cycling to work, parties and shopping is a fast growing part of life in the city. No doubt you’ve heard the stories from family, friends and colleagues.
Maybe they go on and on about how great it feels to arrive rejuvenated by a brisk ride in the morning? Or how they’d be lost without the relaxing ride after the work day? Luckily for you, it can be easy to economically set yourself up to bike.
It’s easy to find a great-fitting bike
Unlike your “one true love” there is no one perfect bike waiting to meet you. Simply look for one that suits your current needs, skills and fitness level. And sure, in a few years, a newer, more nimble and better ‘stallion’ might tempt you into moving on – but that shift in companionship will be for you to decide then, not now.
If your mom, daughter or wife is looking for a new bike, remember that no one ever stopped cycling because their bike was too comfortable. So look for a simple, light and comfortable bike that fits the rider. Know your budget, but also know that ultralight and efficient does not mean ultra-expensive or complicated if you forgo a lot of hype. Think about past cycling experiences and the places you will likely enjoy going, and choose a fun bike that will make that process easy and pleasant.
