How many leaders does it take to flip a pancake?
Well, if you ask Mathew Johnston, manager of the Corner Café at UBC Hospital (UBCH), he would tell you it takes a whole team: 1 director, 6 patient services managers, 1 project manager and 1 admin assistant!
The VCH leadership at UBCH celebrated Nursing Week by hosting a pancake breakfast for all nurses on campus. The attendance was unprecedented with almost 140 breakfasts served.
Site director Tracey Taulu – along with PSMs Lilibeth Ocampo, Parm Pannun, Janice Rotinsky, Gavin Wallace, Carol Rudko, Sandy Strelioff; project manager Lois Budd and administrative assistant Amina Ng – flipped nearly 1,000 pancakes on the morning of May 12 from 7 to 10 am.
The complimentary strawberry pancake breakfast was a gift for nurses from their leaders as a thank you for their hard work, dedication and contribution to the organization. This event could not have been possible without our partnership with Sodexo, as the pancake team took over almost half of the Corner Café space to host the event.
