“May the force be with you” to “live long and prosper”

The VGH Cardiac Heart Throbs know how to “live long and prosper” – by having healthy hearts, of course!

On May 28, 2015, the Star Trek- and Star Wars-themed crew of 30 participated in the Heart & Stroke Big Bike event. Riders included nurses, nurse practitioners, allied health, residents, fellows and cardiologists from both in- and outpatient clinics, and labs from VGH Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery. All jumped aboard the event’s 30-person bike and showed their spirit and support to raise awareness and valuable funds for the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

In our fifth year riding, the VGH Cardiac Heart Throbs raised $23,427 – a new record for the team! With a five-year total to $79,331.08, the VGH Cardiac Hearth Throbs is the number one fundraising team in Vancouver! To add to the excitement and motivation, our annual friendly challenge was made with the St. Paul’s Hospital “Motley Crew” and together we have raised $31,853 this year.
