VCH kicks off Pride season at East Side Pride event

DID YOU KNOW? The East Side Pride event commemorates the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in 1969, in New York. Stonewall was the first time LGBT2Q+ people stood up to discrimination and oppression from the police.

VCH recently marked the kickoff to Pride season by participating in the local June 27th East Side Pride event at Grandview Park on Commercial Drive. Staff from our various LGBT2Q+ programs had a great time twirling and whirling ribbons and chatting with guests who stopped by our booths to find out more about our programs. That’s what Pride is all about – connecting with community and coming together.

This year, VCH was represented by:

  • Prism – An education, information and referral service for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, Two Spirit and queer (LGBT2Q+)
  • CALL Out! – The C.A.L.L. Out! project is a capacity building and wellness initiative that seeks to create more welcoming and inclusive communities for Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Two-Spirit and Queer youth across BC by strengthening their existing support networks
  • Transgender Health Information Program (THiP) – A BC-wide information hub providing access to information about gender affirming care and supports.

You can catch us again at other Pride events around town this summer. Our VCH Colleagues from VAMP – Vancouver Addictions Matrix Program – will also be joining us.

VCH staff from Addictions Services will also be involved with the Clean, Sober and Proud events during Pride.

We hope to see you at one of these upcoming events:
