VGH couple on volunteer mission in Africa
VGH brought them together. A love for volunteering led to marriage. And this summer Brian Drebert and Erin Davis, both VGH nurses, are celebrating their first wedding anniversary while volunteering with Mercy Ships in Africa.
The couple left August 8 and will be serving for three months on a floating hospital docked in Madagascar. There, they’re volunteering their skills to care for people suffering from facial deformities, such as cleft palates, large tumours, and noma disease, a type of gangrene that destroys mucous membranes of the mouth and other tissues.
