Step up to support mental health!
Join us on Sunday, September 20 for the annual Ismaili Walk to support mental health! Funds raised will support the new Joseph and Rosalie Segal Family Health Centre (through VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation), and Living Life to the Full for Youth (through the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division).
The event is open to all members of the public and communities. We invite you to register and fundraise online, or come down to the event itself for a day of entertainment, fantastic food, and of course, an important cause that touches 1 in 5 Canadians. It is a great day for all ages featuring family friendly entertainment, live music, colourful decorations and a festive atmosphere. Participants can enjoy a non-competitive 5km walk around the Stanley Park Seawall or a shorter route for seniors and children.
The Ismaili Walk was founded in 1992 by the Ismaili Muslim Community of BC to raise awareness and funds that further the mandate of partner organizations. It has become one of the city’s most visible events, raising over $4.25 million since its inception in support of local community organizations including hospitals, food banks, the Vancouver Public Library, Simon Fraser University, Habitat for Humanity, the Crisis Center of Greater Vancouver, United Way, the Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI) at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the YWCA Metro Vancouver’s Cause We Care House. Now in its 24th year, the event has become a powerful and inspiring demonstration of compassion in action.
