VIDEO: Canuck hockey player returns to ice thanks to amazing work of VGH’s plastic surgeons

Thanks to the exceptional work of plastic surgeon Dr Peter Lennox and his talented team of physicians at VGH, Vancouver Canuck’s defenceman, Dan Hamhuis, is able to return to the ice. Only two months ago Hamhuis suffered a catastrophic hockey injury that left his face shattered and wired shut.

Dr Lennox described Hamhuis’ face as a “bag of chips” because there were so many broken bones to assess and put plates and screws on. He explained that his team spent 48 hours deliberating how to reconstruct the face before performing surgery. The time to plan was instrumental towards the success of the surgery, and now only two months later Hamhuis is ready to play hockey again.
