An award for John Carsley – en Français, bien sûr
VCH has the Champion de la Santé en Français en Colombie-Britannique in our midst! Medical Health Officer Dr. John Carsley was bestowed an award by RésoSanté, a non-profit organization promoting the health and wellness of British Columbians in the French language. John was awarded a recognition award, Champion de la Santé en Français en Colombie-Britannique.
John has been the VCH representative on the Board of Directors for eight years, and has contributed to the development of the organization’s school health promotion program – École en santé – a model of school health promotion, in collaboration with the Francophone School Board of BC. John’s relevant work within VCH has focused on having the Youth Clinic at Robert and Lily Lee Community Health Centre able to provide a francophone physician or nurse available once a week for the clients of La Boussole, the NGO for vulnerable French speakers in Vancouver. John has also done numerous media interviews in French.
The award ceremony occurred at the Forum Santé, an all day health forum, May 7.
RésoSanté was created in 2003, following provincial and national studies showing differences in access to health services facing Francophone – minority in Canada.
