Iron on some visibility
If your dark woolen or leather jacket looks fabulous in the mirror of your front hall, consider whether or not drivers can see it. Whether you’re walking home, or across a dark parking lot to your car, it’s worth being visible at night.
To help share the creative and stylish ways that people have found to #BeSeenInDarkCoats, VCH is again hosting a virtual fashion show. The intent is to gather more examples of ideas and accessories that enhance visibility without diminishing the “fashion” of stylish winter coats. The more options we have, the easier it will be for each of us to find something that we would like to copy and/or adapt.
Last season Jason, a VCH staffer, had the brilliant idea of attaching a reflective band under his coat collar. When out at night, lifting the collar increased his visibility for motorists behind him. When arriving at his destination, lowering the collar concealed the fashion adaptation. Simple and clever.
In fact, this one idea is so simple that VGH will be hosting an opportunity for you to do the same. To help out in this effort, a Reflective Iron-On Event will be held at the entry hallway (JPP foyer across from the Gift Shop) on Wednesday December 7th between 11:30 am and 1 pm.
Bring your dark winter coat and get some reflective fabric for on-the-spot iron-on, or pin it in place for sewing later.
Or, if you’ve got a better idea, submit it into the #BeSeenInDarkCoats virtual fashion show.
