Can iPads comfort patients with dementia?
A study team at VGH is exploring whether iPads with videos of family members can transform care into less stressful experiences for patients affected by dementia and the staff who care for them.
The pre-recorded videos are designed to reassure patients for safer and more pleasant interactions when staff attend the bedside to help with care, including dressing, meals and medication.
Listen to Lillian Hung, clinical nurse specialist, explain the study on CBC Radio’s “On the Coast”.
