Hepatitis C Program – Annual Report 2015-2016
Did you know that VCH primary care clinics provide care to the single largest group of clients living with Hepatitis C (HCV) in Vancouver? And the good news is that we are beginning to show improvements in the HCV cascade of care. Our integrated, low barrier, and compassionate team approach is key to creating a welcoming environment, engaging individuals in care and supporting them to have successful treatment outcomes.
Today, the HCV Program is launching their first ever Hepatitis C Program Annual Report. Check it out. The HCV program provided access to HCV treatment for 258 individuals in 2015-2016 and have documented a 91.5 percent cure rate. You can read more about some of the great work that has been happening, meet some of the staff, and hear from some of the clients. Here’s what one client had to say:
“Every Thursday for 3 hours I listened, learned and shared while I received treatment. The support, knowledge, medical attention and friendships that enabled me to accept, understand and endure treatment was constant and growing. 22 years after being diagnosed with hep C, I am cured.” – Nancy
“We’re very proud of all of the work we do in our primary care clinics. Every day we touch the lives of so many people.” said Danielle Cousineau, Clinical Practice Lead, Primary Care. “But today is a day to celebrate the HCV program and the physicians and staff who make the program what it is. The annual report is a great milestone for the team. It is also a wonderful showcase of the program, the work and the results.”
