September is Community Cares Month in Richmond

The 7th Annual Community Cares Month was officially launched on Friday, together with the naming of the new Milan Ilich Pavilion and the unveiling of atrium renovations. Presented by TELUS, the event reaches into our community like no other in Richmond.

Previously named Community Cares Day, the event has now expanded to the entire month of September, featuring radio broadcasts throughout the month with Fairchild Radio (AM1470 & FM96.1) and CHMB AM1320, campaign partnerships with local businesses and organizations, and various promotional activities throughout the month. With numerous fundraising events in the community and promotion in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, Community Cares Month unites members of our diverse community for a common cause—to donate to improve patient care at Richmond Hospital.

“Donors, families, grateful patients, businesses and community organizations are essential to improve local health care in Richmond,” said Doug Johnson, Board Chair, Richmond Hospital Foundation. “Community Cares Month is an opportunity to highlight the expert care here at Richmond Hospital and the need to bring us all together to do what we can to help improve the local health care we all cherish for ourselves, our families and neighbours.”

Community Cares Month will culminate in a “Richmond Hospital Donation Day” on Saturday, September 27 with activities such as donation booths at local malls and Richmond Hospital, a “street team” to cheer on the cause, all day pledge phone lines to collect donations, and an evening telethon program on national Fairchild Television.
