In 2011 VCH asked you to complete the first-ever People First Survey containing twelve questions about engagement and twelve questions about safety. About 56 per cent of you did the survey and the overall score was 3.56 out of a possible 5.0. Overall results from 2011 [PDF]
Engaged = safe
A key discovery from the 2011 survey was that those of you who felt engaged at work also felt that your workplace is safer for you and safer for clients and patients.

It’s survey time again: June 5
The 2013 People First Survey takes place June 5-28. Once again, Gallup Corporation will run the survey and will ask you questions that will influence team planning and help you and your team in achieving your goals.
Facts about this year’s survey:
- The survey can be completed online or on paper, during work hours.
- All regular full-time and part-time staff and physicians will receive the first email notification about the survey in late May.
- Responses are confidential and only team scores are reported back to VCH.
- If fewer than 5 people in a department complete the survey, the manager will not receive a
report for that team. - Results of the survey will be received in the fall.
- All health authorities across BC are participating with Gallup in this survey.
