What can psychology do for you?
Psychological health is important to us all. To mark Psychology Month psychological associations, scientists, psychology residents and psychologists organize local public education and outreach activities to facilitate awareness of psychological health in our communities. Psychologists add value to all aspects of wellness by formulating evidence based methods of treatment, assessment, education and research.
Psychologists in our region enjoy working with interdisciplinary teams to make valuable contributions in a wide variety of service areas. Some of these include:
- Cross cultural supportive services
- Mental health and addictions services at Burnaby Centre
- Vocational assessments at Gastown Vocational Services
- Community services at Hamber House
- Psychological assessment
- Solid organ transplantation
- Geriatric services
- Neuropsychology
- Sexual health at Vancouver General
- Neuropsychology assessment and rehabilitation
- Acquired brain injury and rehabilitation at GF Strong
- Occupational stress
- BC Psychosis & mood disorders program at UBC Hospital
- The OCD group therapy program at Richmond Hospital
- Eating disorders
- Neuropsychology
- Heart centre and HIV clinic at St. Pauls’ to name a few.
Psychology Services is also collaborating with our partners in health care across Vancouver Coastal Health to present a free day of education and dialogue on Perspectives on Continuity of Care, February 28 at Paetzold auditorium.
