Richmond’s super eight

Eight people from across the Richmond community of care were recognized at the recent staff forums for demonstrating People First Values. These amazing staff members demonstrated care and compassion in a variety of circumstances from responding quickly to an influenza outbreak during the holidays to looking after a patient’s seeing eye dog.

Claire Proulx, Admission/Transition RCC
Minoru Residence

Claire recognized a potential outbreak of influenza at the Minoru Residence. She acted quickly, initiating outbreak protocols key to protecting residents from adverse health outcomes.

Claire clearly demonstrates the care team’s high level of dedication to our residents, and their unwavering commitment to the highest quality of care.

This team has been commended  by a resident’s mother for the kind, compassionate and highly knowledgeable care they provide. They are known for being incredibly attentive to the residents’ needs.

Jillian went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure care and comfort for a patient’s seeing-eye dog – this included going on her own time to organize walking schedule and even buy dog food.

She always demonstrates a commitment to putting  patients’ needs first and foremost.

Phoebe was nominated as an Outstanding Individual Preceptor in VCH. She supports her students to allow them to grow into therapists with eyes that see the community needs; hearts that support families in need; and skills to help foster the changes.

Lisa was also nominated for Outstanding Individual Preceptor in VCH. Her way with children, families and students is very welcoming, caring and supportive. She is an excellent role model of evidence-informed practice and always
advocates for learners and learning.

Viviane exemplifies excellence in nursing practice because she’s always a  team player who goes the “extra mile” to care for patients and families. She can be counted on to reach out to help her colleagues at all times.

made many contributions to the development of nursing students. It’s apparent she loves teaching and sharing her knowledge, wisdom and enthusiasm.
