How long have you worked at VCH?
For over 20 years.

Tell us what you do at VCH in one or two sentences:
As a member of the Vancouver Community leadership team I am involved in interviewing and orientating new staff to the public health Program at Three Bridges Community Health Centre, and I provide new and ongoing education sessions in areas related to clinical practice and PARIS workflows. I also support daily operations to the public health team at Three Bridges which currently consists of over 20 staff in various disciplines such as public health nurses, speech language pathologists and program assistants.

What’s your favourite thing about your work?
The people I work with and see day to day at my work site and within the larger Vancouver Community Public Health team. It is great to be a part of such dedication and enthusiasm in promoting health prevention and healthy communities.

How does your work contribute to the VCH True North goals?
I see my work contributing within the goal of developing the best workforce and encouraging a culture of respect, engagement, safety and accountability.

One thing we might be surprised to learn about you:
I spent several years after obtaining my private pilots licence, flying a single-engine Cessna aircraft. Now that is a rush, flying solo in and out of YVR!

Three things you always have in your fridge:
Cheese, fresh berries, and hot spicy Salsa.

Who or what inspires you?
Chris Hadfield- Astronaut – extraordinary skills yet a regular guy. My favorite quotes of his are: “good leadership means leading the way…not hectoring other people to do things your way” and “focus on the journey, not on arriving at a certain destination.”

Most healthy habit:
Sleeping seven hours every night.

Favourite vacation spot:
My cabin on Canim Lake in the Cariboo, the interior of BC.
