Clear your closet for Boxing Day sales!
Our VGH Thrift Store needs your previously loved clothing and housewares. The store’s inventory is running low and our team of store volunteers is seeking new items to sell. All net proceeds — that’s right, 100 per cent! — go to benefitting patients and residents.
Since 2010, the VGH Thrift Store has contributed more than $125,000 to fund renovations, new medical equipment and more at VGH and UBC Hospital. Store proceeds have also given Santa and his elves a helping hand by funding Christmas gifts for people in residential care.
Read last year’s story about Banfield residents benefitting from a $2,000 donation made by the VGH Thrift Store.
New location offers FREE parking
The store’s new location on E. Hastings Street is favourably situated in the East Village, one of Vancouver’s hottest up-and-coming neighbourhoods. The area is friendly and offers plenty of — FREE! — parking in a large, well maintained lot directly behind the store.
We thank everyone for your continued support and the VGH Thrift Store team and volunteers wish you all happy holidays.

Is there a drop box at VGH? It would be much more convenient. I used to walk to the old Broadway location on my lunch hour to drop off donations but that’s obviously not possible to do at the new location. A drop box at the hospital would be helpful for those who have items to donate but are unable to go to the store.

Great question, Lena, and thanks for your support! Yes, there’s a donation bin at VGH, It’s located in Centennial Pavilion on the ground floor in the stretcher bay area outside the service elevators. You can drop off your adult and children’s clothing and footwear at the store’s bin. For books, CDs and housewares, please visit the Thrift Store at the times and location provided above. The store’s new neighbourhood has cute shops, cafes and restaurants – a great place to stroll or shop for the holidays! And the BIA provides plenty of free parking, too!
