How long have you worked at VCH?
5 years
Tell us what you do at VCH in one or two sentences:
I am part of an amazing program that supports our Aboriginal people throughout their health care journey. I work as part of the interdisciplinary team in the acute care setting. My main focus is ensuring our clients are being supported in a culturally safe, and culturally appropriate way that incorporates their traditional ways of knowing and being into their health care plans.
What’s your favourite thing about your work?
There is never a day I wake up and don’t want to go to work. The team at Aboriginal Health is brilliant and I am honored to be a part of such important work, and system wide transformation.
How does your work contribute to the VCH True North goals?
The people first view is similar to that of our traditional views, therefore as an Indigenous person myself I am working from a perspective akin to my traditional world view.
One thing we might be surprised to learn about you:
I am a dancer.
Three things you always have in your fridge:
Cheese, fruit, and lots of salmon.
Who or what inspires you?
My daughter inspires me everyday. Her innocent imagination reminds me daily of what being a child is like and I love seeing the world through her eyes!
Most healthy habit:
I work out 6 days per week and lift weights as well.
Favourite vacation spot:
I absolutely loved New York!
