Upcoming changes to accessing phone interpreters
Starting May 1, 2018, phone menu options for interpreting services will change. Staff will notice that the phone menu for the Provincial Language Service (PLS) has been updated to expedite immediate connection to phone interpreting services. The new phone menu will include the following options:
During office hours
During Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- New: press 1 to be connected to a phone interpreter
- Press 2 for all other interpreting service inquiries
- Press 3 for francophone services
Outside office hours
- New: press 1 to be connected to a phone interpreter
- Press 2 for all other interpreting service inquiries
- Press 3 to leave a Voicemail
- Press 4 for Francophone services
New feature details
If you press 1 for a phone interpreter, you will then be provided 2 options:
- Press 1 if you know your access code
- Press 2 if you do not know your access code
This change allows for easier access to phone interpreters. Staff will connect to a phone interpreter by using their program or clinic’s unique access code.
Access codes
Every program, clinic or unit accessing interpreting services has an access code. Find your access code by:
- Referring to your access card
- Referring to the online booking system (if applicable) – new feature update on the homepage.
- Asking a PLS customer service representative
- Emailing pls@phsa.ca
