Gavin Wallace has gone Coastal. He recently pulled up stakes in Vancouver and crossed the water to Gibsons where he is now a MH&A Case Coordinator Nurse. Gavin may be a newcomer to the Sunshine Coast but he’s no stranger to mental health services. Previously he worked in Vancouver and has experience in detox treatment, teaching and emergency care.

“I was ready for a change of scenery,” says Gavin, noting that his new role on “the coast” is going to provide a variety of experience that he just wouldn’t be able to get in a larger centre where the roles are much more divided up among disciplines. “It’s going to be quite challenging.”

Gavin is looking forward to the amazing mountain biking, kayaking, hiking and fishing that only the Sunshine Coast can offer.

The lower cost of living on the Sunshine Coast was an attraction too. For the price of a condo in downtown Vancouver you can buy waterfront property on the Sunshine Coast.

“The lifestyle is great, the people are really nice and it’s really hip and artsy.”
