LifeHub can help you help yourself

Jane loved her job but over the last few months, she was finding that she lacked the same amount of energy she used to have in her day-to-day life. Things had gotten quite busy at work and she felt that her health was suffering.

One day, as she was finishing up her shift, she walked by a bulletin board with a notice on it about LifeHub – a free online support system from EFAP that provides health information and self-help tools.

“Well,” she said, “I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to try.” After the quick 2-minute registration she logged in and completed a health risk assessment, which asked her questions about her meals and the quality of her sleep.

It only took her about 10 minutes to complete, but the results were surprising. Jane learned where the strengths were in her lifestyle, as well as opportunities for improvement for living healthier. For each opportunity identified, there were modules she could take to help work on these areas.

“This even has a module on managing energy,” Jane said. “That’s exactly what I need!” Jane also noticed there were links to modules on improving personal relationships, nutrition, and many other areas she wouldn’t mind learning more about.

Since starting, Jane has been going through the modules and using the goal tracker built into LifeHub. She’s been able to monitor her progress in working toward her goals for eating well and using her energy more effectively. Her meals are now more balanced, lower in sodium and higher in fibre, and she has been able learn some time management skills to ensure she has the energy to deal with the most important things in her life.

If you’re like Jane and you’re interested in improving your health, check out the self-help tools on LifeHub – it’s free for all VCH employees and it’s confidential. No personal information will be given to EFAP or your employer, only non-identifiable, aggregate and statistical data is collected.
