Calling all graphic design students: Contest deadline coming up

The deadline is coming up for the design contest for our My Health My Community project. The future website for the VCH public engagement project is currently blank – waiting for a digital Degas or pixilated Picasso to make it come to life. We’re looking for graphic design students, to design a logo and/or brand, a look and feel, so that the project can have fresh, and engaging materials.

Public Health, in partnership with the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s eHealth Strategy Office, will be launching My Health My Community to promote community engagement on health and wellness across our region. The interactive website will operate as a survey, collecting data from participants (ages 18 and up) to help guide future planning of health services.

The winning entry will be used in online and print materials, such as brochures and posters. The winner will receive a cash prize of $2500.

We’re counting on you to help spread the word – to tell friends and family who might be interested in this opportunity. For more information about the contest, please access our website, www.myhealthmycommunity.org. The deadline is September 24, 2012. The complete rules can be found on the site.

Once launched in 2013, VCH residents who participate in My Health My Community, will be asked to provide information about their health status, lifestyle choices, built environment and community involvement. The data will be used to determine and track how health is affected over time, so the hope is to have participants respond on a regular basis. The participants will receive health assessments and individualized health tips to further promote healthier living.

It’s fitting for a community engagement project like My Health My Community, to obtain branding through submissions from the public. We’re excited about this design contest – and hope that we receive submissions that embody the values of this project including healthy living, fitness, inclusiveness and collaboration.
