VCH Tobacco Reduction Team invites you to participate in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

On Saturday September 15th, members of the VCH Tobacco Reduction team would like to invite you to join them in getting wet and dirty during the 18th annual Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup – a national direct action conservation effort to remove shoreline litter and help create healthy waters for everyone. Every year cigarette related litter is the #1 recovered item in the cleanup. When people discard cigarettes and their packaging into streets, runoff carries them to drains, to rivers, and ultimately to the ocean and its beaches which is harmful to the environment and wildlife. This year the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is partnering with TerraCycle to divert smoking related litter items from landfills by recycling these items into plastic industrial pallets.  You can make a difference by participating and helping make our waterways and environment more safe and clean!

If you would like to join the VCH Tobacco Reduction Team please contact Lindsay MacDonald, Tobacco Reduction Coordinator at lindsay.macdonald2@vch.ca or by telephone at 604-983-6711.

If you would like to help out, but cannot make the scheduled cleanup, it is not too late to join one of the public cleanups or to organize your own. For more information please visit the website http://www.shorelinecleanup.ca.
