Let’s celebrate quality improvement

Do you know an initiative that made sustainable improvements to health care quality in BC? Or are you inspired by a colleague whose commitment to change is unwavering and maybe even flying under the radar?

You can help celebrate the great work taking place within VCH by nominating them for a Quality Award. Award categories represent the four areas of care and an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership. And new this year is the Everyday Champion Award, the winner of which will be determined by online voting.

The nomination deadline is November 9 at 2359 PST.

Quality Award Categories

  • Staying Healthy – awarded to an initiative focused on preventing injuries, illness and disabilities
  • Getting Better – awarded to an initiative focused on improving care for acute illness or injury
  • Living with Illness – awarded to an initiative focused on improving care and support for chronic illness and/or injury
  • Coping with End of Life – awarded to an initiative focused on improving the planning, care and support for life-limiting illness and bereavement
  • Leadership in Quality – awarded to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in improving the quality of care.
  • Everyday Champion Award – designed to capture the story of someone working in the health system who has improved the quality of care provided to patients, even though he or she may not have a formal leadership role in quality improvement. The BC Quality Awards Judging Panel will narrow the applications down to the top candidates who best exemplify the award’s criteria. Anyone will then be able to vote online for their “Everyday Champion.”

The Quality Awards are presented by the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council. Award recipients will receive a $2,500 sponsorship to help support or disseminate learning from their projects.
