The ART of Science – Spinal Chord Gala 2012

Spinal Chord 2011 – Vancouver Cantata Singers

On Saturday, November 3rd, the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre will be transformed into the backdrop for the 4th annual Spinal Chord Gala. The evening is a unique, interdisciplinary event that celebrates the work and achievements of performing artists and VCH spinal cord injury researchers, scientists, and clinicians – and a fabulous occasion to get all dressed up, hear an award-winning choir in the spectacular Blusson atrium, enjoy delectable hors d’oeuvres, and bid on an array of exciting silent auction items.

Hosted by CTV news anchor, Coleen Christie, the evening is becoming known for its blend of supporters of the arts and science – and the exceptional opportunities for connection across the disciplines that it provides.

The gala grew out of a unique partnership between ICORD spinal cord research program at VGH – a partnership between VCH Research Institute, UBC Faculty of Medicine, and the Rick Hansen Foundation – and the Vancouver Cantata Singers. ICORD uses their share of proceeds for the Community Resource Centre located in the Blusson atrium, which helps foster connections between ICORD researchers and members of the community.
