Clinicians and spinal cord researchers earn awards at SCI conference

Clinicians from GF Strong Spinal Cord Injury Program and a researcher with ICORD spinal cord research program recently received awards at the 5th National Spinal Cord Injury meeting in Toronto.

Dianna Mah-Jones, occupational therapist with GF Strong, received the People’s Choice award for her patient care poster entitled “The Finger” – An Aid for Digital Rectal Stimulation. Her poster also earned 2nd place in the Patient Care Category.

Karen Anzai, rehab consultant with GF Strong, and her co-authors (Amber Backwell, Corrie Funk, Kim van Wyk, Walt Lawrence, Brad Jacobsen, Andrea Townson) earned 3rd place in the Education Category for their research poster Enhancing Education Delivery: An Evaluation of the Client Education Sessions and Print Materials in a Spinal Cord Injury Program.

Dr. John Steeves, researcher with ICORD spinal cord research program at VGH, received the Champion of Change award at the conference. The award is given to an outstanding individual or group who has changed the fabric of the SCI community – by enhancing patient care and increasing research production through outstanding leadership.
