Assessing and Managing the Risk of Violence in Healthcare

Violence in the health sector is a serious problem that has gained a great deal of attention over the last decade partly as a consequence of tragic cases involving patients, health professionals, and community members.

ProActive ReSolutions in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health will be hosting a 5-day Violence Risk Assessment and Management Workshop, taking place November 26-30, 2012 at Richmond Hospital.

The goals of the workshop are to:

  • Build staff confidence when making decisions about cases that involve violence risk.
  • Inform staff about best practices in screening, assessing, and managing violence risk while fulfilling professional responsibility, and protect staff from potential liability.
  • Strengthen staff relationships with other professionals with a shared interest in and responsibility for protecting public safety and preventing future harm within healthcare.

Professionals within and outside of the health sector interested in assessing and managing violence risk should attend this workshop including: administration, human resources, union representatives, physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, psychologists, risk management, and legal services.

Regular rate
$1500 + HST per participant

Student Discount (graduate students in professional training programs):
$625 + HST per participant

Cost includes all workshop materials and light refreshments.
