Mary-Liz Gabra and Jane Chung bring their Respiratory Therapy skills to Haiti

Respiratory therapists at VGH volunteer Their Skills in Haiti

Haiti

Jane Chung volunteers in Haiti.

From a young age, Kelsey Hambrook has always been interested in helping out in less developed countries.  As a respiratory therapist, she now gets the opportunity to work with a great team in Haiti – Project Medishare.  Project Medishare is an organization that provides health care workers the opportunity to share their skills with the people of Haiti.  They run an intensive care, along with an Emergency department and an Operating Room.

Kelsey, along with three other VGH Respiratory Therapists will be making their way to Haiti in March.  Kelsey, Kayla Manual, Ingrid Hakanson, and Tina Hsu are looking forward to being part of an amazing team.

Mary-Liz Gabra and Jane Chung spent two weeks in Haiti with Project MediShare in the fall and they had such a great experience. Mary-Liz has already returned to Haiti for her second time volunteering and will stay until March. “We take care of ventilated patients in the 4 bed ICU, are part of the code team for adults, pediatrics and neonates, and transport ventilated patients to the CT scanner, which you have to go on a lift to get up to!”

Their fundraiser event will take place on Friday, February 8th at the Shark Club on Georgia St.
