Dr. Lakshmi Yatham included in prestigious list

Last week, Thomson Reuters unveiled “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds,” a list of 3,200 researchers “who published the greatest number of highly cited papers in one of 21 broad fields” from 2002 to 2012.

One of those researchers is VCH’s Dr. Lakshmi Yatham, regional program medical director of Mental Health and Addiction Services at UBC.

“I’m obviously very excited,” Dr. Yatham says. “This means that the work I’m doing is seen as making an impact by my peers and colleagues around the world – that’s very nice to know.”

This distinguished list is comprised  of scientists whose numbers of citations were in the top 1 per cent in their field during the year of publication. Impressively, Dr. Yatham isn’t the only VCH staff member on the list – Drs. Ian Mackenzie and Howard Feldman, two Vancouver Community of Care physicians, were also mentioned.

“This pushes me to move forward in my field and improving patient care,” he says. “I’m glad I’m making a difference.”

Please congratulate Dr. Yatham for this major honour.
