Want to learn more about Advance Care Planning? We can help

Advance Care Planning is a way for you to have a say about the health care you want to receive if you get very sick and cannot speak for yourself.

Did you know?

A 2013 Harris/Decima poll revealed that:

  • About six in 10 Canadians believe that it’s extremely important to talk to someone about their end-of-life care preferences – but only 45% have done so.
  • Canadians who have an Advance Care Plan are more engaged in the health care system – 90% of them have a family physician or regular place of care.
  • Canadians overwhelmingly want their health care provider to give them information about Advance Care Planning.

Advance Care Planning Workshops

The Community Engagement Advisory Network (CEAN) offers workshops for staff, patients and families interested in developing an Advance Care Plan.

Where?

CEAN offers workshops at Lions Gate Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital (in the CIBC Centre for Patients and Families) and at Richmond Hospital (in the Patient Family Resource Centre).

When?

The workshops are offered at least twice a year in each location and accommodate about 15 people in each session.
