Calling all champions of walking to work

Car passengers and cyclists sit. By and large, transit users do too. But walkers get up off of their bums and get moving. Sadly no one sings the praises of these quiet achievers – folks who make a close enough connection between their work and home to stand up, and walk to work. This year, we want to celebrate those stand-up guys and gals!

If you walk to work, or if you think that you’re up for the challenge of doing the Shoe Commute then now is the perfect time (in some perfect weather). Join the Clean Commuter and Wellness Challenge this year and become a Team Leader; sign-up and recruit three to seven colleagues, friends or layabouts who will join you in standing tall during your active commute.

The 2015 Clean Commuter & Wellness Challenge runs for three weeks; Monday May 25th through to Sunday June 14th. We’re inviting people who want to create a team to sign up now and we’ll support you with materials to help get your team together.

Team Leaders will soon recognize one another by their nifty “I walk to VCH” mugs! So act fast to get build your team of walkers and contact the VGH Commuter Centre.

I walk to VGH every day from my home at 1959 West 12TH Avenue in Vancouver. It takes me 20 minutes at a comfortable pace and have been doing the Shoe Commute during all my working time at VGH
