Have you or a loved one had a stroke?

If you or someone you care for has had a stroke, the Heart and Stroke Foundation can HELP. Take part in the Living with Stroke™ program, workshops are offered in 28 different locations across British Columbia. The program is designed to help stroke survivors and their families improve their quality of life, cope with challenges and connect with others. There is no cost.

Led by trained facilitators, the program is made up of 7-8 weekly, two-hour sessions. Sessions explore the challenges of stroke and its effects on being back home in the community. It is also meant to help survivors and caregivers deal with the emotional and very personal aspects of stroke recovery.

Diana Pham, a staff at VCH, made the choice last year to become a Living with Stroke Facilitator. She has been on a mission since her own grandfather suffered a stroke to ensure that there is support and connection to other stroke survivors in the community. As Diana says, “it was really different for me to take on the role of being a LWS facilitator but I am so glad that I did. I love to meet people and help them move forward and take control of their own recovery again. It is a great joy to participate.”
