VCH Accreditation 2016 is beginning!

I’m pleased to confirm that the first VCH-wide Accreditation Canada survey will take place September 18 to 23, 2016. This will be the first time that all VCH programs and sites will be surveyed at once.VCH 2016 Accredition Logo (final)

As you know, accreditation is an opportunity to showcase the good work that VCH does every day and to celebrate the excellence of our staff, physicians and volunteers.

Preparations for Accreditation 2016 will be carried out under the leadership of Nancy Desrosiers, Executive Director of Quality & Patient Safety. Serena Bertoli-Haley will be joined by Jody Sydor Jones (Coastal), Jacqueline Per (Vancouver) and Michael McAuley (Richmond) in coordinating and supporting the preparation work throughout VCH.

To our advantage, much work has recently been completed that will inform the 2016 accreditation process including the successful June 2015 survey visit for select programs in the Coastal community of care. Vancouver and Richmond communities of care have also recently completed self-assessments and identified areas for improvement.

Between now and December 2015, regional working groups will convene for key priority areas to develop regional improvement action plans, and to oversee local implementation of improvements leading up to our September 2016 site visit. To practice for the site visits, mock tracer exercises will begin in January through to August 2016. The site visit schedule will be finalized by April 2016 and the site visits will take place September 18 to 23, 2016.

This accreditation effort across all of VCH is a large undertaking, but I’m confident that your ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality care everywhere in VCH will impress our reviewers at our September 2016 site visit.

A sincere thanks for your continued support of the accreditation process.
