Patsy Aplas (fourth from the left) won a pop-up party for her team.

Pop-up party for Patsy! (say that real fast)

The JPOR team at VGH gathered for a Christmas pop-up party last week which Patsy Aplas, Head Nurse at VGH JPOR, won for her team after commenting on the ‘what engagement means’ videos on VCH news.

Highlights

The pop-up party provided an opportunity for the team to take some time away from work to celebrate the holidays with healthy appies, Christmas music and desserts! Many of the team members also walked away with a door prize, courtesy of the VCH commuter centre, and Patsy was awarded a $25 gift card and an engagement champion award.

Recognition

Patsy’s example of engagement sends an important message to all of us that we can accomplish more by taking time to recognize one another. Feeling valued goes a long way and only takes a moment of your time. Patsy Aplas, Head Nurse at VGH JPOR said, “We are one of four teams in JPOR. I asked our team to fill out a putting people first [kudos] card and the replies were amazing, “awesome team 3, members looking after each other. You make my day! HPB ROCKS!!Always fun working with Team 3, Working at VGH feels like being surrounded by family xoxox,” and many more comments like this. Care givers taking care of care givers in one of the most stressful environments makes best patient care possible!! I am so proud to work with these nurses.”

Thank you, Patsy for reminding us to take time to acknowledge one another. Stay tuned for a chance to win a pink pop-up party for your team in January 2016!
