Recent thefts at LGH

On December 31st, several staff had their wallets, keys, cash, credit cards, and a computer stolen from a locked staff lounge.

This is an unfortunate situation and both Security and RCMP are investigating. Security will also be patrolling areas more frequently given this recent theft. Affected staff are being supported. The codes for all of the facility’s staff lounges have been changed.

This serves as a reminder for everyone to stay vigilant for safety and security concerns.

Steps to reduce risk

Please take the following steps to minimize the risks of thefts at work:
– Minimize taking valuables to work
– Do not leave your valuables in an unsecured area
– If you have a locker, make sure it is locked properly before leaving valuables inside
– Be vigilant and wear your VCH identification at all times and question those individuals who you do not recognize if in restricted areas.
– Notify Security immediately if there is any suspicious activity in your clinical area-if security does not hear about it, security won’t know it occurred
– Please reinforce to patients and families not to leave valuables here in the hospital as this is a public space
