#Beseenindarkcoats

A lot of drivers are saying that they can’t see you.

Whether you are walking home from work or making your way across the parking lot to your own car, many people are wearing dark coats that that make them difficult for drivers to see.

Not that it is a matter of casting blame – drivers need to be alert and exercise caution at crosswalks, intersections and anywhere else that pedestrians are expected to be. But rather than hand out fluorescent vests and bicycle blinky lights to pedestrians, we thought it might be worthwhile to find out what creative and stylish ways that dark coats have already been made visible in the nighttime. (Reflective cycling jackets need not apply.)

A [virtual] fashion show is underway for the rest of March to shine a light on the best and brightest ways to #BeSeeninDarkCoats. Photo entries will be judged for both STYLE and VISIBILITY by a panel of judges within the fields of fashion, health and road safety.
