Flu policy still in effect

Typically the provincial flu policy ends around March 31st, but due to a late influenza season and ongoing elevated influenza A activity in BC, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Perry Kendall announced that the flu policy will remain in effect into April.

This means that VCH and PHC personnel – including staff, physicians, contractors, students and volunteers – who did not receive the influenza vaccine are asked to continue wearing masks in all patient care areas.

Influenza activity will be monitored closely by the Provincial Health Officer, who will announce the end

of the policy application period, and the subsequent need to wear masks, when safe to do so. We will notify staff and physicians when this happens.
