Nurses: Inspire change in the community!

Are you looking for excitement at work while helping those most in need? Our innovative Access and Assessment Centre (AAC) program is actively recruiting for mental health nurses to join our team! This is a unique opportunity to contribute to leading edge work in community-based treatment and rehabilitation services while progressing your skills as an experienced mental health nurse.

About the AAC

VCH recently launched the innovative AAC program which aims to partner with clients to help them attain a stable life that is not driven by their illness, and is actively recruiting for qualified staff to join our team!

The AAC centre serves as a single point of access for all Vancouver adults in need of urgent assessments and outreach support, crisis intervention and referral to MH&SU services. Operating 24 hours per day, the AAC will provide better, more easily accessible care and eliminate the need for clients to navigate a complicated system or default to the Emergency Department (ED) to seek help for their urgent mental health and substance use issues.

As Andrew Ryan, head nurse for the AAC explains, “this is a new approach to delivering mental health services driven by the clients’ need. We need to think of what we can do for clients, and not what we can’t do for them. There are enough barriers to navigate already.”
